The Lake Street Park and Playground is located at 710 Lake Street, in Salisbury, right across the street from Chipman Elementary School and shares a parking lot with the First Baptist Church Family Life and Cultural Center. The well-maintained neighborhood park has a recreational softball field, two lighted basketball courts with bleachers, a large playground area, a pavilion with picnic tables and grills, and a permanent concessions building with restroom facilities. The playground equipment includes a Gametime play set for school age children with a climbing wall and 6 slides.
Not only is the park a great place for families to come play on their own, Lake Street is home to several organized programs as well. For instance, the neighboring First Baptist Church uses the playground in the daytime for its youth camp, “Summer Exposure”. Then on summer evenings the county runs its free Playground Program which provides supervised activities for children ages 5 and up each night. In addition to the collaborative effort to provide programs, the park is maintained jointly by the county and city, making Lake Street Playground a true example of community and teamwork.
